Q. Which ignition do you recommend for my bike.
A. This is a question that I am often asked and one which does not have a short answer. The choice of ignition system is often down to the personal preference and sometimes size of wallet of the customer. We will NEVER recommend an ignition system which is more expensive than the customer needs. When choosing an ignition system you should consider the following.

Do you really need an ignition system which is more sophisticated than the bike that I am going to put it on? Fitting the latest programmable ignition to a standard bike which is ridden softly, for general Sunday runs out, will probably give you no better riding experience than a basic Boyer Mk3 or Pazon Sure Fire system. Don't waste your money.

6 or 12 Volt. - If you bike has 6 volt electrics you can fit a 6 volt electronic ignition system or may decide to convert your bike to 12 volt at the same time as you fit the ignition. On Dynamo bikes this involves fitting a 12 volt dynamo regulator, battery and bulbs. The 6 volt horn will normally work OK at 12 volts. 6Volt alternator bikes can be upgraded by fitting a 12volt rectifier regulator, 12volt battery and bulbs. One point of caution is that the voltage or British 6 volt alternator bikes is normally unregulated and can go high if battery connections or earth connections are not in tip top condition. For this reason Boyer Bransden will not guarantee their 6 volt system if they are used on bikes with alternators.
