My 1973 Norton Commando 850 Mk2 Roadster.
My Commando was imported from Texas in the late 80s. Its my second Commando and it was an incomplete chopper when I bought it. Frame, Engine and even gearbox numbers match. Its not standard, so please don't send me a list of things that are "wrong" on it. I built the bike to suit myself and I love it so "mission accomplished" on this one.
The spec is roughly as follows. Base model = 1973 850 MkIIA Commando Roadster. ENGINE +20 Pistons. Heavily modified head with raised compression, gas flowed, enormous inlet valves and 32mm inlet tracts. Twin 32mm Amal MkI carbs. Classic Solutions Programmable electronic ignition with 2 x 6volt PVL coils. CHASSIS Genuine 1970s Norvil floating disk brake 18" WM3 Wheels front and rear with flanged alloy rims. Brembo brake caliper with Kawasaki master cylinder and Goodridge hose. OTHER NICE THINGS Metal Flake paint (painted by myself) using genuine "Metalflake" flakes imported from the USA. MkIII Vernier isolastic conversion. RGM big bore exhaust system (1/8" increased bore over whole length).
The bike doesn't look radical but it goes like a bat out of hell and sounds beautiful.
My son Conor learning how to look after his inheritance.
